Explore the Mysteries of the Unknown

We’re so spoiled nowadays when it comes to finding information on weird, supernatural and creepy stuff. You can Wikipedia the Amityville Horror, you can watch documentaries about ancient aliens on demand, and there’s a podcast for everything from ghost hunting to past life regression.

But it wasn’t always that way. Back in the ’80s, we watched our horror movies on VHS and Time Life Books told us about the Mysteries of the Unknown.

Thirty-three volumes of paranormal awesomeness. Sadly, I never owned these books when I was a kid–but I had a friend who did, and I remember flipping through them and marveling at how packed they were with thins I’d never seen or heard of before.

I was talking about this series with someone a few weeks ago, and I found myself on eBay, looking for any used volumes. I found a set of twelve for about $25, and they are even better than I remembered them being. I’m planning on collecting them all.

I’m just about finished reading the Hauntings book now, and I’m amazed at how well it holds up. The books are surprisingly well-detailed, and the design of the whole series is great.

If you’re a horror fan or interested in the paranormal at all, I cannot recommend this series highly enough.

I remember these! And hubs and I were cleaning out our room…AND WE HAVE SOME, like five or six of them.
Me: OMG! We have some of these!
Hubs: Yeah, don’t remember where I got those. We can probably get rid of them.
    Me: NO.
    Hubs: … okaayyyyy…
    So that was exciting.
