Creepy Fun: The Haunting of Bly Manor

The Haunting of Bly Manor hit Netflix on October 9th, and, as you can guess, people are watching and whispering and posting with vague words and emotional phrases. As soon as I saw the trailer, I couldn't wait. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tykS7QfTWMQ And now, it's here! I've watched the first five episodes, and I like it! Creepy. Mysterious. Atmospheric. And the stories are unfolding at just the right pace. As I watched the first episode, I immediately connected this to the recent movie The Turning, which showed in theaters at the beginn[...]

Get Even is Streaming on Netflix!

Most of you know that I absolutely adore Gretchen McNeil, not only as a badass author but as a professional and creative that I admire immensely. One of my favorite novel series of hers is Get Even. Guess what? It came to Netflix! TODAY! Here's a little bit more about Get Even. The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars in Gretchen McNeil’s witty and suspenseful novel about four disparate girls who join forces to take revenge on high school bullies and create dangerous enemies for themselves in the process. Bree, Olivia, Kitty, and Margot have no[...]

Killer Camp: A New Show on the CW

I like slasher films, such as watching the good times unfold at Camp Crystal Lake. Did you hear about the new show Killer Camp? Thursday, July 16th, the new reality TV series Killer Camp premiered on the CW, and I'm watching right now. Let's see if this is any fun. Poster for new CW show Killer Camp It begins with... "11 real-life strangers applied to be on a show they thought was called 'Summer Camp'." Oh...a little bait and switch? I'm game. A yellow school bus travels down a tree-lined road, and the passengers, all types of people, different[...]

The Return of NOS4A2

Last summer I watched the show NOS4A2 on AMC. AND WOW DID I ENJOY IT! Season two begins this weekend on Sunday, June 21st on AMC. I just wanted to let everyone know. OUT OF THE KINDNESS OF MY HEART. Poster from the AMC TV show NOS4A2 Vic McQueen has a gift. She's a strong creative and with her bike and a magic bridge, she's uncovered the sinister plot of dear Charlie Manx. Based on the book by Joe Hill, which I haven't read it but will, this show gives us another type of vampire. One who lives in Christmasland. Vic just wants to go to art school,[...]

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a Living Horror History Museum

Over three years ago on this very blog, I was gushing about what a fantastically scary comic series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was. Well it's 2018 now, and thanks to a very successful Riverdale TV show, we have recently just experienced the first season of the live-action Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series. And what a season! Not only did I love the storytelling and how the tone got progressively darker as it went, but I was blown away by the multitude of Easter eggs in this show. I mean, this is beyond few nods here and there to the movies and stories[...]

Dexter- A Must Watch Show

A few years ago, I was obsessed with watching Dexter. I discovered the show via my public library's dvd collection. They only had the first few seasons, so I needed to buy the last one or two to keep watching. This show hit the spot. I mean, it had everything--murder, mystery, intrigue, romance, and blood. Tonight, after catching up on the latest episode of Homeland, I scrolled through to find something to watch next and came upon Dexter. I am excited to begin watching the series for a second time, because I am sure I missed a lot of details before.   The o[...]

The Alienist

When I first heard about The Alienist, I wasn't interested in watching it. I thought it would be about aliens and be a science fiction show. I wasn't interested in that, but when iTunes had episode 1 for free, I couldn't help but check it out. That's when, with the opening, I discovered the true meaning of an alienist. Alienist- In the 19th century, the mentally ill were thought to be alienated from their own nature. Experts who studied them were know as alienists. This was enough to suck me in. This new TNT thriller revolves around a serial killer who prays on m[...]

#Horror TV: Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block

If you haven't heard of Channel Zero on SYFY channel, you should go check it out. The first season, Candle Cove, was creepy fun as a childhood terror refused to be forgotten, as a lost brother was found. The second season, No-End House, dove into the pain of the past, of how...just maybe...we'd rather live without it. The third season, Channel Zero: Butcher's Block has just finished, the final episode played last night. I haven't watched it yet...but I will, then return to share my thoughts. SyFy channel describes their show as... BUTCHER’S BLOCK, the third[...]

Ash vs. Evil Dead Revisited

Brian and I are HUGE Evil Dead fans. We actually met face-to-face three years ago at Comic Con in NYC--the very same one where there was an Ash vs. Evil Dead panel and a tour through Ash's trailer. How cool is this?! Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when one of my favorite horror shows comes back on STARZ. Now in its third season, Ash is back and so are the marvelous special effects. This show has THE BEST effects, from heads being cut off to fingers being severed by a saw. If you like slapstick slaughter, this show is definitely for you![...]
