The Dark Carnival Cover Reveal!

Today I am proud. So proud. Over a year ago I had an idea. I love horror and I love carnivals. I said to Kristen, the co-founder of my other blog Pen and Muse, "What if we did a writing showcase? One that involves a Dark Carnival?" We ran with the idea and to my shock and awe, we met our sign-up goal of ten people. And the list kept growing. In fact, almost one hundred different authors and illustrators signed up. I was shocked. I was elated. I was longing for the dark and creepy things to crawl out of their minds. Each person had to pick one ride or event at[...]

Dream Casting: Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz

I posted in the beginning of July about a book I was very excited to read. I went to ALA in Las Vegas and came home with Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz tucked underneath my arm. I have read this author several times before and she never disappoints. In case you forgot, here is what Welcome to the Dark House is all about. What’s your worst nightmare? For Ivy Jensen, it’s the eyes of a killer that haunt her nights. For Parker Bradley, it’s bloodthirsty sea serpents that slither in his dreams. And for seven essay contestants, it’s their w[...]

Contagious Reads Horror Con: Celebrating Women in Horror

Today I have an exciting event to tell you about! One of my favorite horror book blogs, Contagious Reads, is going to be hosting a conference celebrating women horror writers. I'm thrilled to tell you I'll be participating in two panels (Romance in Horror and Zombies: The Struggle To Not Be Pidgeonholed Into One Subgenre) AND (EEEEEK!)... my zombies from FATAL have been nominated for Best Zombies! But the best new is, ALL OF YOU CAN GO. Because it's free and it's on Facebook. Isn't that[...]

BEA Spotlight: Holly Black

I am a HUGE fan of Holly Black. In fact, when I saw a friend of mine come out of the convention hall of BEA last year with an ARC of The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, I just about lost my mind. Luckily, she is wonderful and went back in to find me a copy. This is my favorite Holly Black story yet! This year, Holly has two signings and I plan to be at both of them. I am so excited to get my hands on The Darkest Part of the Forest. I mean, look at that cover! BEAUTIFUL! The Iron Trail, one she co-authored with the amazing Cassandra Clare is sure to be awesome too! I[...]
