It’s that time again, where I announce the horror movie I will live tweet for this month! Because if you’re like me, you don’t have any friends who like to have their minds assaulted by creepiness. And this is wrong.
So let’s watch…
The Possession
Meet Clyde and Stephanie. Formerly married, now living apart and sharing custody of their two daughters.
Emily “Em” and Hannah. Who are not so thrilled to be staying with their dad.
At a garage sale, Em finds a wooden box with Hebrew writing. She’s drawn to it. She wants it. Her father buys it for her. But they can’t open it.
But it’s not just a box. It whispers to Em in the dark before it does open, revealing odd items such as a tooth and dead moth. After opening the box, Em withdraws. And strange things happen.
Well, Dad catches onto the weird, but Mom blames Em’s behavior on him. Em falls deeper and deeper into the dark and Dad searches for help from a Jewish community. And someone believes him. Wants to help him. It’s a dybbuk box and opening it has set free a dislocated spirit that now looks for a new body…Em’s.
They fight to stop it. To save Em.
A creepy movie! Deep down dealing with what happens to kids when parents separate, what happens when you lose track of what’s important, and have to fight to get it back.
Based on a true story, this movie touches on the story of Kevin Mannis, and was featured on SyFy channel’s Paranormal Witness (season 2, episode 4…watch it here!). At some point, this box was in Kirksville, Mo., belonging to a student at Truman State University…What’s cool and creepy? I WENT TO COLLEGE THERE! I was gone before it arrived, but dude.
Anyway. Come watch a horror movie with me. The Possession live-tweet Friday, August 19th. Press play at 9EST and add your tweets to #ThePossession.
AND WHATEVER YOU DO…DON’T OPEN THE BOX!
