That’s right! My choice of movie to live-tweet this month is one of Amy’s (one of our Midnighters) favorites!
I watched The Cabin in the Woods because Amy told me to. Basically.
And why wouldn’t I want to? This 2012 horror/comedy was written by Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon, directed by Drew Goddard and produced by Joss Whedon.
Dude. This movie made me laugh, cringe, and sent my horror-loving heart all aflutter. SO LET’S WATCH IT TOGETHER!
We’ll follow five college friends…
As they go on a little vacation to a deserted cabin deep in the woods. It’ll be fun! How cute is this place?
Okay…maybe cute…
Or not cute at all…
Five friends.
And…
They want to have a little fun…
However, they’re being watched…manipulated by a group of science-types in a facility.
The group of friends heads down into the basement and find strange objects.
And the people in the facility erupt in joy as they bet on which object they will choose, which object they will unknowingly activate…which monster they will call forth.
Dana recites an incantation from a journal, releasing a family of zombies.
But someone wins the bet…
But not the group in the cabin. The attacks start. The college kids fight and one by one they begin to die, viciously killed.
Except two live. Dana and Marty find a hidden elevator and descend into the facility where they discover monsters…
So many! Everything you can imagine and more contained in cages. But the duo is being hunted. They group of five had a purpose, to die. The people running the cabin need them to die, but why?
Dana and Marty just want to survive, so they set the monsters free, hoping for a chance to escape the guys with guns.
That ends well.
But they still have to die. The whore had to go first…the virgin must go last…but why?
Does the world end? Or do they save it?
Watch with me to find out. FYI…there’s a unicorn…so why wouldn’t you watch it?
