So, I’m sitting in the theater, innocently waiting to see The Mockingjay (late, because I was too busy when it first came out. But on the plus side, I got to see it in the dollar theater. Anyway, back to the story…) and this trailer comes on:
And I’m like, whoa. And trembling a little. And totally trying to act cool about it because my hubs is staring at me to see if this is the one. The horror movie that will actually scare me. Because there are none. I love horror, but to me it’s more like suspense. I don’t actually get scared. I might jump at bats flying out of the closet or hold my breath waiting to see if the poor innocent girl in the nightgown is going to be brutally murdered, but I’m not really ever looking over my shoulder or worried something’s going to jump out at me. The closest any movie has ever come to frightening me is The Conjuring. But still, not really so much.
However something about this trailer got to me a little. I don’t know if it’s because of my interest in zombies, and life after death. Or just the mere fact that movie trailers have been super lame lately (even if the actual movie is great. Have you guys noticed that? Or is it just me?). But yeah, this movie looks… a tad terrifying. What do you think?
The Lazarus Effect, starring Olivia Wilde and (OMG) Evan Peters, releases February 27th, and I’ll be catching this one in the theater (or maybe the dollar theater).
Tell me, what horror movies legitimately scare you?

OMG I AM SO SEEING THAT!!!!!! I believe that coming back from the dead is bad, having strange and terrible consequences. I’m with you, horror movies tend to be suspenseful for me, I can’t wait to discover what the heck is happening, what the ghost or demon wants, who is going to die… The Conjuring, Annabelle, Insidious, Sinister, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark are some of my favorites, holding some kind of something that if I came across in real life I would pee my pants. And I do believe evil exists…
Melinda Jane Harrison
Kathy PalmThe Ring and the original version, Ringu, scare me. Yes, that is present tense. They scare me now. The idea of a ghost that is evil and cannot die. OMG!

Melinda Jane HarrisonSo true. I loved both of those, Melinda!

Kathy PalmI believe that too, Kathy. I think most of the time horror movies don’t scare me because they don’t seem real. But when one captures that realistic vibe, that’s when things get a leeeetle creepy.

And I so want to see this movie. Because those are themes I really like.

kirabutlerRight?! It almost can not fail. I love them both. š

We should all go together. That would be fun. Cause I’ve got no horror fans here. I’ll be seeing it alone, which works.

Kathy PalmAHHH! That would be so fun! Too bad we all live in different places. š
