Horror on TV

Are you a Fannibal yet?

For my very first post at Midnight Society, I talked about my love for cannibals, and specially for Hannibal. For those of us who are insane for the show, we're called Fannibals. We've seen all the episodes (at least once, probably three times) and we are in awe of the brilliance and all the feels it gives us. The show is a total mind-f*ck, but it the best of ways. I'd argue that it's the best horror on television, which is why it shocks me beyond words that NBC is the one who is behind Hannibal. You wouldn't think that a network like that would be okay with[...]

Sorry I’m Late to the Grimm Party

I love watching TV and movies. Obviously. But what you don't know is that recently, my family and I decided NOT to pay outrageous fees to have cable. I won't go on a ridiculous rant, but I will say this...Netflix downloads have cost me a TON of money because my internet provider CHARGES ME FOR GOING OVER 250 DURING PEAK TIMES. AND OF COURSE THIS IS 5 PM TO 1 AM. I'm finished. I promise. And for those that are asking why I don't just change internet services. I can't. There is only one, unless I want to go back to the Stone Age of dial up--and that will NEVER ha[...]

#BatesMotel Wrap-up and Predictions

Sadly, Bates Motel has come to an end for the third season. Norman's hallucinations are increasing, and he's committed another murder as "Norma," bringing us closer in line with the movie canon. Norma has finally admitted that Norman is unstable, and that has increased the conflict between Norma and Norman. Dylan and Emma FINALLY kissed (so sweet!), and Emma's getting new lungs. Caleb is gone again. Romero is in love with Norma and trying not to be. He's sick of the corruption in the town. Major Questions in Season 3 How far should we go to break the law for[...]

Monsters of Dr. Who… Morbius

It’s the third Friday of the month and I know you’re excited for Dr. Who day! Where I search for horror in a sci-fi show, which isn’t difficult at all. In my last post, we met the Daleks, who run rampant throughout the series, however, today’s monster appeared in one episode. The Brain of Morbius was originally broadcast in 1976, written by Terrance Dicks and Robert Holmes. The Fourth Doctor and his fabulous companion Sarah Jane... land on the rocky planet Karn littered with wrecked spaceships and a headless body of the alien. Of course in true Doc[...]

You Can’t Do a Slasher Movie as a TV Series

OR CAN YOU? Alright kids, if you haven't heard, MTV is putting out Scream, yes as in the Scream movies, as a TV series. All of the promos for this show make me so happy, but this one's my favorite. The best thing about the Scream movies was that they have a sense of humor about them, largely put together by Randy. You remember Randy? source   I really hope the TV series has a Randy. Here are two more trailers, because they're actually funny which makes them worth watching. The series will premiere on June 30th. MURDER. MAYHEM. JOKES. Will you[...]

Horror Mamas

Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there! In honor of the holiday, I compiled a list of some of the greatest Horror Mamas. Of course, it's a list based on my personal tastes (but I have pretty great tastes). They are in no particular order. Mrs. Vorhees of FRIDAY THE 13th Not many people know this, but Jason wasn't the killer in the original Friday the 13th. In the original, it was Jason's mama, Mrs. Vorhees. She went around killing people for they did to her son—letting him drown in the lake. That's one devoted (and demented) mama. Norma Bates of B[...]

iZombie

There’s a cool new zombie show on the CW called iZombie. The story—adapted by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas, originated as a comic published July 2010, by Vertigo—an imprint of DC Comics. If this line up of awesome doesn't get you chanting: Rob Thomas and DC Comics and zombies, oh my! I'd be surprised. And this is NOTHING like any zombie story you've ever heard of. Liv, a talented medical resident who has it all together, attends a fancy party on a yacht. After refusing to take a new drug, the yacht is suddenly under attack by zombies. Liv is scratched[...]

MTV’s Eye Candy

I was super disappointed to get the news this weekend. A new TV show that I've fallen in love with has been cancelled. This is basically my life. I'm cursed. The moment I like a show, it's cancelled. Have you guys heard of EYE CANDY? Have you heard of Eye Candy? Eye Candy is adapted from a book by R.L. Stine. Eye Candy (show) is about a hacker named Lindy who reluctantly joins the world of online dating. Once immersed in it, one of the men she's dating turns out to be a total creep and deadly stalker who targets her and anyone who she loves. Eye Candy stars V[...]

Monsters of Dr. Who… THE DALEKS

This is the first of my series on the monsters of one of my favorite shows... DR. WHO! On the third Friday of each month come celebrate the creepy of a show that has been around for 50 years. But... but, KATHY! Dr. Who is science fiction! What is it doing on a horror blog? Because it's scary! That's why. Geez, don't you trust me? The Daleks have been around forever. Conceived by Terry Nation, they first appeared in the episode 'The Dead Planet' in 1963. Every single regeneration of the Doctor has faced these terrible beings, making them the greatest enemy[...]

Cannibal Love

Hi there! My name is Kim and I'm new around here. I’m so thrilled to be a part of Midnight Society. I look forward to talking about book love, writing, and horror—since those three things are pretty much my life. For my first post, I’m going to be talking about cannibals, and why I love them, because I’m just that type of girl. (I've always been a zombie fangirl, so I figure cannibals and zombies kinda go hand-in-hand, am I right?) Now—no, before you start thinking like that I want to clarify something—I mean fictional cannibals, of course. N[...]
